Brake & Repair Services FAQ

Why are your brakes important?

The braking system is the most important safety feature your vehicle has. Brakes give you the ability to stop or slow down in an instant which can help avoid an accident

What does a brake service include?

Before a brake service begins, our Mechanics conduct a road test and visual inspection. The road test checks the effectiveness of your brakes, how the foot pedal feels and if the ABS is working. The visual inspection includes checking the brake pads, rotors, shoes, wheel cylinders, master cylinder and brake fluid to ensure it meets all safety standards.

Once the road test and visual inspection have been completed, the Mechanic will contact you and advise you of the outcome of the inspection, if anything needs to be repaired or replaced and what the cost of this will be.

What are some warning signs that I need a brake service?
  • Brake shudder or steering shudders when braking
  • If your brake pedal starts feeling spongey when it’s normally firm
  • You have a consistent squealing, screeching, clicking or grinding sound when braking
  • When your vehicle starts pulling from one side to the other when braking
  • You can see that you have thin brake pads
  • You receive a notification or brake warning light on your dash
What is the expected lifespan of my brake pads?

The average lifespan of brake pads ranges from 30,000km to 100,000km. You may need to have your pads replaced before they reach 30,000km or they may last longer than 100,000km. The variation in lifespan depends on a number of factors like your driving habits, if you tow, brake pad material and your driving environment.

What brands do you use?

Where possible we always try to use genuine parts or high-quality aftermarket parts.
